Wellness Wednesdays: Sugar and Spice 11.06.2019

Honey and cinnamon can be combined with many other fresh herbs, spices and fruits to be used as natural remedies for countless ailments. Cooler weather often means drier skin, hair and nails, environmental irritants, viral infections and many other chronic cold weather related conditions which honey and cinnamon can help fight. For sore throat, cough or cold, mix:
8 oz boiling water
1 Tbsp honey
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp lime juice
Dash of mint, black pepper and turmeric

Since 2800 BC, cinnamon has been celebrated for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties. Mainly used as a flavoring ingredient in recent years, it was also used in ancient times to treat various respiratory, digestive, brain, and blood disorders.
Magical Honeybees
Honey's medicinal effects are believed to be due to a unique enzyme produced by the magical honey bee, which gives honey its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. According to a study by the Earthwatch Institute, "bees have been declared the most important living being on Earth", and many species have also been added to the endangered species list. Possessing time-tested resilience, bees represent over 80 percent of pollinators, and are vital to a successful garden as well as the health of Earth's life cycles.
