Seed Study 11.11.2019

During the month of November and in preparation for spring planting, RA Psychle Junior Master Gardening students have been learning about seeds and necessary conditions for successful growing. Today we analyzed pinto beans which have been soaking in moist paper towels for the past week to observe changes as we continue to study seed germination and propagation. Students learned to define and distinguish monocot and dicot seed types by comparing the pinto beans to kernels of rainbow corn which they harvested fresh from the cob.

Stay tuned for part two of our experiment as students form hypotheses and explore what might happen when the corn kernels are heated.
